# Subtle and Powerful Chapel Peter Zumthor Design By Design Crack | Published 2007-10-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapel-by-peter-zumthor-subtle-and-powerful References: [designcrack](http://designcrack.com/v2/2007/09/18/peter-zumthor-bruder-klaus-chapel-sublime-powerful-beauty/) & [danda.be](http://www.danda.be/gallery/bruder_klaus_chapel/) I've always been a fan of the work of Peter Zumthor, and a recent article I read in Icon Magazine has reinvigorated the joy that I get in his work. This work in particular, the [Bruder Klaus Chapel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-barca), has inspired me to go to [southern Germany](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mountain-chamber) to see this work in person. Rarely do I want to make a pilgrimage to see architecture. It used to be that I would travel half way around the world to see work by Italian architect, Carlo Scarpa. Now, I feel that urge again. However, with a kid on the way, I might have to wait several years to experience this building with my future son. For now, the closest thing to experiencing it comes from Danda's [fantastic Gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abin-design-studio) of images from the chapel. I compel you to have a look. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sustainable Architecture:** Opportunity for integrating sustainable design principles in architectural projects like the Bruder Klaus Chapel. - **Artistic Expression:** Exploration of innovative and inspiring designs that evoke emotional responses, as seen in the work of Peter Zumthor. - **Destination Architecture:** Growing interest in traveling to experience iconic architectural works, such as the Bruder Klaus Chapel in southern Germany. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Potential for architects to incorporate innovative design elements and sustainable practices. - **Art and Design:** Opportunities for artists and designers to create emotionally impactful and visually stunning architectural projects. - **Tourism and Travel:** Creation of unique travel experiences centered around visiting iconic architectural sites and structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Building-Nestled Compact Cafes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapel-cafe.md) - [Modern Tuscan Chapel Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pailunga-tuscan-chapel.md) - [Sacred Timber Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-church-tolvkanten.md) - [Reflective Memorial Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sanctum-of-trees.md) - [Contemplative Steel Sanctuaries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doshi-retreat.md) - [Nature-Rooted Family Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haus-am-lagnesberg.md) - [Reflection-Encouraging Cohesive Churches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hjvangen-church.md) - [Temple-Inspired Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/j-kidman-architecture.md) - [Compact Urban Cafes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-chapel.md)
