# Hat-Inspired Lamps Simone Gerbino Designs the Chapeau Lamp Inspired by Headwear By Amy Duong | Published 2018-03-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapeau-lamp References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2018/03/23/video-simone-gerbino-chapeau-lamp-shortlisted-made-com-talentlab-lighting-design-movie/) & [made](https://www.made.com/talentlab/) Designer Simon Gerbino designs the unique Chapeau lamp, and it was shortlisted for TalentLab, a medium for up and coming designers. The Chapeau lamp is made up of two elements -- the lamp's support is [crafted from oak](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp), and the lamp shade is constructed from a [powder-coated steel material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape), which is also attached to the power cable. Normally, the cable is not directly attached to the shade, but it is in the case of the Chapeau lamp. Gerbino's lamp is designed specifically to be flexible -- the top of the support is spherical so that it can [tilt and rotate around](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp), allowing for adjustment of light direction. Gerbino expresses the importance of flexibility as people move around much more than before. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.3/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Flexible Lamps:** Designers can create lamps with flexible features to allow for personalized illumination. - **Hybrid Materials:** Innovative designers can use hybrid materials to create unique lamp designs. - **Functional Decor:** Designers can create functional decor by transforming everyday objects into lamps. ### Who This Affects Most - **Lighting Industry:** Companies in the lighting industry can explore flexible design options for lamps. - **Furniture Industry:** Furniture makers can explore adding functional lamps to their product lines. - **Home Decor Industry:** Home decor retailers can showcase unique, hybrid-material lamps to add interest to their products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Artistic Statement Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toto.md) - [Soft Rope Lampshades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hat-collection.md) - [Umbrella-Inspired Whimsical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wasaga-lamp.md) - [Tiltable Dimmable Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nod-lamp.md) - [Twisting Timber Lampshade Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-lasercut-wooden-lampshade.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humble-lights.md) - [Artistic Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scacco-matto-lamp.md) - [Playful Table Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toto-lamp.md)
