The Torso Magnetic Chair is the design work of Kim Minjae and features a seat that is made from a fiberglass concrete blend and a wooden base. Hidden within the bottom and top layers of the seat and base respectively are magnetic components that enable the seat section to float above the base without requiring support in order to accommodate a sitter. The Torso Magnetic Chair seats feature [suspension cords](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edgeofyr) that help to keep the seat section in place as it floats above the base to provide a great illusionary piece of home decor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Levitating Furniture:** The Torso Magnetic Chair demonstrates the trend of using magnetic components to create furniture that appears to levitate. - **Aesthetically Suspended Seating:** The Torso Magnetic Chair showcases the trend of incorporating suspension cords to create an aesthetically pleasing seating experience. - **Design Innovation:** The Torso Magnetic Chair exemplifies the trend of pushing the boundaries of design by combining materials like fiberglass concrete and wood with magnetic components. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** The innovative design of the Torso Magnetic Chair presents opportunities for furniture designers to create unique and visually striking pieces. - **Home Decor:** The levitating aesthetic of the Torso Magnetic Chair opens up opportunities for the home decor industry to create visually stunning and conversation-starting products. - **Interior Design:** The use of suspension cords in the Torso Magnetic Chair offers new possibilities for interior designers to create imaginative and eye-catching seating arrangements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Responsive Recliner Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/davidhugh-aiora.md) - [Circular Modernist Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zerogravity-chair.md) - [Magnetic Component Gaming Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/andaseat-kaiser-3.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Gravity-Defying Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-isolounge-chair.md) - [Magnified Illusion Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zoom-chair.md) - [Bungee Cord Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tcord-chair.md) - [Sculptural Gravity Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench.md) - [Breath-Responsive Recliners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aiora.md)
