# Playful Martian Seating This Chair for Kids Resembles a Galactic Cartoon Character By Jana Pijak | Published 2016-02-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chair-for-kids References: [phillipgrass](http://phillipgrass.com/collections/companion) The 'Companion' stool by designer Phillip Grass is a chair for kids that is reminiscent of a galactic cartoon character. Resembling an alien, the metal and wood stool boasts a bright blue frame that is accented with a circular seat. The wooden seat can be customized to include one's choice of wood -- three stain varieties are available -- and is accented with a fun eye graphic. The chair for kids is a fun bedroom accessory but can also be displayed in living rooms that are in need of a statement piece. Designed to look like an illustrated cartoon character, this stool boasts personified elements, metal pieces that are bent to resemble arm and leg tentacles. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Cartoon-inspired Furniture:** The trend of cartoon-inspired furniture opens up opportunities for designers to create playful and imaginative pieces that appeal to both kids and adults. - **Customization in Furniture:** The trend of customization in furniture allows consumers to personalize their pieces, offering opportunities for furniture companies to offer a wide range of options and designs. - **Statement Pieces in Home Decor:** The trend of statement pieces in home decor presents opportunities for designers and manufacturers to create bold and unique furniture that adds personality and style to any space. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can leverage the trend of cartoon-inspired furniture by creating innovative and fun pieces that cater to the preferences of different age groups. - **Woodworking:** The woodworking industry can benefit from the trend of customization in furniture by offering a variety of wood types, stains, and finishes to meet the unique preferences of customers. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can tap into the trend of statement pieces in home decor by sourcing and incorporating bold and eye-catching furniture into their designs, creating visually impactful spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Moon-Inspired Modular Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wigiwama.md) - [Alien-Inspired Metal Stool Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metal-stool-1.md) - [Eco-Friendly Ergonomic Child Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plogic-chair.md) - [Childhood-Informed Dome Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clodette-chair.md) - [Otherworldly Themed Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-rocking.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Outdoor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peace-outdoor-lounge.md) - [Celestial Body Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-chair-solar-series.md) - [Insect-Like Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mantis-chair.md) - [Otherworldly-Inspired Dynamic Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmos-chair.md)
