# Contemporary Cavernous Homes The CH House by GLR Arquitectos Stresses Natural Touches By Meghan Young | Published 2013-11-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ch-house-by-glr-arquitectos References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/11/26/ch-house-by-glr-arquitectos/) & [glrarquitectos](http://www.glrarquitectos.com) The CH House by GLR Arquitectos, a Mexican firm, is a stunning example of contemporary architecture that has managed to maintain many touches of nature in not-so-obvious ways. First of all, the dining area appears to be set in a cavernous corner. Yet the rock face is simply enjoyed through [ceiling to floor windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-con-lucarna). It was preserved from the original gardens. Located in Garza Garcia, Mexico, the CH House by GLR Arquitectos also echoes nature through a flood of natural lighting as well as specific artworks strewn throughout. Composed mainly of [gray exposed concrete](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-house-1), [gray oak wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palo-quemado) and the black granite facades, the interior might seem strict and stark at first, but it is clear that a lot of care and character was put into its design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Contemporary Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunities can be found in developing sustainable and eco-friendly materials to be used in contemporary architectural designs. - **Cavernous Interiors:** Disruptive innovation opportunities lie in creating immersive virtual reality experiences that mimic the feeling of being in a cavernous space, offering unique design possibilities for interior decorators and architects. - **Natural Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in designing smart lighting systems that can mimic natural lighting conditions, providing a more sustainable and energy-efficient alternative to traditional artificial lighting. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunities arise in incorporating sustainable and energy-efficient technologies into architectural designs, such as renewable energy sources and smart home systems. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunities can be found in creating innovative lighting solutions and materials that replicate the natural lighting effects seen in the CH House, enhancing the ambiance of interiors. - **Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunities lie in exploring the intersection of art and architecture, creating unique and immersive art installations that complement the architectural design and enhance the overall experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nature-Preserving Mexican Lake Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-santa-maria-del-oro.md) - [Chilean Hillside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-three-heights.md) - [Modern Minimal Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/copas.md) - [Modern Mountainous Luxury Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robert-chisholm-architects.md) - [Interior Courtyard Mexican Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-ll.md) - [Local Stone-Based Beach Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-quinto-sol.md) - [Sculptural Canteliver Concrete Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-del-alma.md) - [Lofty Minimalist Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-living-space1.md) - [Geometric Cave-Like Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavelike-homes.md)
