Wegner which falls on April 2nd with a special version of the CH24 Wishbone Chair dubbed the CH Birthday Edition 2023 chair. It is made from oiled and FSCTM-certified oak as well as natural paper cord -- which is a material familiar to the brand. The original chair has a envelope-patterned seat but this time, paper cord is used to create a [woven pattern](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs). The CEO and third-generation owner of Carl Hansen & Son, Knud Erik Hansen talks about the new edition, stating “Every year, we aim to create a version that adds something new to the Wishbone Chair without compromising Wegner’s original design. In our view, the double-woven seat does just that, and we’re thrilled to be offering design lovers around the world this new version of the Wishbone Chair.” Image Credit: Carl Hansen & Son ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 15% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Special Edition Furniture:** Launching limited edition furniture pieces to celebrate special occasions or milestones can create a buzz and appeal to design enthusiasts. - **Innovative Seat Materials:** Experimenting with unconventional materials for chair seats, such as paper cord, can add unique texture and interest to furniture design. - **Sustainable Design:** Using environmentally-friendly materials with certifications like FSCTM can appeal to consumers who prioritize sustainable practices. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** The furniture industry could explore creating limited edition pieces to commemorate significant events and integrate sustainable materials into furniture design. - **Design:** The design industry could explore experimenting with innovative materials for unique texture and interest, such as paper cord, in furniture design. - **Sustainability:** The sustainability industry could explore creating certifications for materials used in furniture design to promote transparent and eco-friendly practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Premium Kids Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childrens-wishbone-chair.md) - [Revived Balanced Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ch290-series.md) - [Modern Mid-Century Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midcentury-chair-design.md) - [Chrome-Plated Steel Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vega-chair.md) - [Minimal Curved Wooden Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1972-chair.md) - [Bent Wooden Sculptural Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pk15.md) - [Kite-Inspired Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/embrace-collection-1.md) - [Danish Design Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hans-j-wegner.md) - [Mid-Century Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnus-olesens.md)
