Taking [traditional portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/profiles-in-color) and turning them on their heads, he utilizes [paper in such simple ways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-for-papirkunst) to evoke strong emotions from his subjects. An outstanding display of creativity, Medellin-based Cesar Del Valle understands that extravagance isn’t the only way to make a statement. Expression of any sort is usually most powerful when raw and unaffected. He captures this concept through these illustrations. Take a look at the gallery for a closer look at his work. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Interactive Paper Art:** Opportunity for artists and designers to incorporate interactive elements into their paper-based creations. - **Emotional Portraiture:** Opportunity to create portraits that evoke strong emotions through simple and minimalist paper techniques. - **Raw Expression:** Opportunity to create impactful artwork by embracing the raw and unaffected aesthetics of paper medium. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for artists and designers to explore new ways of creating interactive and emotionally evocative paper-based artworks. - **Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for photographers to experiment with innovative techniques using paper to capture raw and emotional expressions. - **Craft and Hobby:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for crafters and hobbyists to explore the potential of paper as a medium for creating expressive and interactive artworks. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Origami-Inspired Porcelain Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saori-matsushita.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Meticulous Paper-Stacked Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paragraphic-in-four-stacks.md) - [Origami-Inspired Ceramics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-series.md) - [Folded Paper Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clara-von-zweibergk.md) - [Analog Nostalgia Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-basics-ii.md)
