# Cereal-Inspired Ice Creams Ben & Jerry's 'Cereal Splashback' Flavors Mimic Popular Breakfasts By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2017-03-08 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cereal-splashback References: [trndmonitor](https://trndmonitor.com/food-spotlight-splash-your-spoon-into-ben-jerrys-newest-cereal-splashback-flavors/) & [benjerrys.co](http://benjerrys.co/CerealSplashback) Fruit Loot, Frozen Flakes and Cocoa Loco are three new Cereal Splashbacks from Ben & Jerry's that were recently launched to coincide with National Cereal Day. These three flavors remind of some of the most popular breakfast cereals on the market. As Ben & Jerry’s Flavor Guru, Eric Fredette describes: "Because the sweet milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl is arguably the best part, we wanted to take our flavor concepts and make people feel like a kid again." To celebrate the launch of these three new Cereal Splashback flavors, Ben & Jerry's set up a giant cereal bowl ball pit in New York City's Grand Central Station and gave those who stopped by the chance to sample all three cereal-inspired ice cream flavors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Breakfast-inspired Ice Creams:** Ben & Jerry's 'Cereal Splashback' flavors reflect the trend of combining nostalgic breakfast flavors with ice cream, providing an opportunity for ice cream brands to tap into the breakfast market. - **Innovative Flavor Concepts:** Ben & Jerry's Cereal Splashback flavors offer a unique way to recreate the nostalgic experience of a cereal bowl, highlighting the potential for disruptive innovation in the ice cream industry by experimenting with unconventional flavor combinations. - **Interactive Marketing Experiences:** Ben & Jerry's activation of a giant cereal bowl ball pit in a major transportation hub demonstrates the growing trend of immersive and engaging marketing experiences, presenting an opportunity for brands in various industries to create memorable interactions with their consumers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Ice Cream:** The launch of Ben & Jerry's Cereal Splashback flavors in the ice cream industry opens up possibilities for other brands to explore unique and nostalgic flavor combinations to cater to consumer preferences. - **Breakfast Food:** The popularity of Ben & Jerry's Cereal Splashback flavors indicates a potential market for breakfast food brands to expand into the ice cream category by incorporating familiar breakfast flavors into their products. - **Marketing and Advertising:** The success of Ben & Jerry's interactive marketing experience with the cereal bowl ball pit highlights the potential for marketers and advertisers to create immersive experiences that engage consumers and leave a lasting impression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cereal-Steeped Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cerealsly-delicious-series-by-salt-straw.md) - [Cereal-Inspired Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cerealsly-delicious.md) - [Cereal-Flavored Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/i-heart-cereal-ice-cream.md) - [Cereal-Flavored Frozen Yogurts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yogurtland-cereal-frozen-yogurt.md) - [Cooling Slushie-Inspired Cereals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kelloggs-icee-cereal.md) - [Limited-Edition Ice Cream Cereals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/best-cereal-ice-cream-crunch.md) - [Nostalgic Bakery-Inspired Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bakery-ice-creams.md) - [Ice Cream Milkshake Cereals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frosted-flakes-cookies-creme-milkshake.md) - [Cereal-Inspired Frozen Custards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cereal-concrete-mixers.md)
