# Celestial Chess Sets Jerod Hugghins Designs a Chess Set Similar to Battleship By Tisah Tucknott | Published 2009-08-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-chess-sets-jerod-hugghins References: [inewidea](http://www.inewidea.com/2009/08/18/8994.html) Battleship was one of my favourite games when I was a young child, even though I lost more than half the time. The Celestial Chess Set by Jerod Hugghins incorporates the classic game of Battleship with a chess set. Unlike the typical, flat surfaced chess board, the Celestial Chess Set has a spherical base instead. The design was made to incorporate the idea that the chess pieces rise up to take part in the royal battle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Spherical Chess Sets:** Opportunity for creating unique chess sets with spherical bases for a new gaming experience. - **Game Hybridization:** Potential for combining classic games, like Battleship and chess, to create innovative and engaging new gaming experiences. - **Interactive Chess Boards:** Opportunity to design chess boards with interactive elements that enhance the gameplay and add a visual appeal. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Board Game Manufacturing:** Disruptive potential by incorporating new design elements into traditional board games to attract a wider audience. - **Toy Manufacturing:** Opportunity to create exciting and educational hybrid games that appeal to a younger demographic. - **Design and Product Development:** Chance to explore creative ways to merge different gaming concepts and create visually striking products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Incredibly Elegant Chess Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elevated-chess-set.md) - [Ceramic Chess Seating Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chair-chess.md) - [Beautifully Artful Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-chess-set.md) - [Flat-Pack Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jigsaw-chess-set.md) - [Architecturally Inspired Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baku-chess-set.md) - [Republic-Honoring Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chess-set-concept.md) - [Building Block Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-tower-chess-set.md) - [Artful Wearable Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ha-mat-set.md) - [Electromagnetic Conduction Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masteek-lightup-chess-set.md)
