# Cedar Lake Houses Cedars Kin by Omar Gandhi Architects Frames a Canadian Lakeside Home By Amy Duong | Published 2026-04-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cedars-kin References: [omargandhi](http://omargandhi.com/) Cedars Kin by [Omar Gandhi Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rockbound) is a residential project in Canada designed as a series of interconnected volumes set within a [forested lakeside site](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/q88-residence). The project was developed by Omar Gandhi Architects, a Halifax-based studio, and positions the house in close relationship to the surrounding terrain. The structure is composed of stacked and offset forms that respond to the slope and natural conditions of the landscape. The design uses [cedar cladding across the exterior](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-houses), allowing the building to weather and blend into its environment over time. Openings are carefully placed to frame views toward the lake while maintaining a degree of privacy from the surrounding site. Interior spaces are arranged vertically, with circulation moving through layered volumes that shift in scale and proportion. The house integrates with the terrain through its massing and material palette, using wood as a continuous surface across exterior and interior elements.
