# Cavernous Penthouses The Wapping Apartment by Atmos Studio is Full of Contemporary Curves By Meghan Young | Published 2014-10-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavernous-penthouse References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/black-white-penthouse-apartment-full-curves/) & [atmosstudio](http://www.atmosstudio.com/Wapping-Wrap) A cavernous penthouse can be found in Wapping, East London, that is full of [contemporary curves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sobremesa-house). Evoking the feel and look of a big cave, the counters and shelving have an organic appearance that is stunningly futuristic as well. It helps that the design is predominantly black and white, save for the wooden floors, which adds to the cavernous penthouse's overall sci-fi aesthetic. Designed by [Atmos Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jaegerlecoultre-and-marc-newson), the cavernous penthouse boasts a ton of natural lighting from floor-to-ceiling windows that offers great views of the Thames. This makes the space look and feel even bigger than it actually is. By replacing the backsplash with mirrors, the illusion is perpetuated even more, to the delight of residents. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Organic Futuristic Design:** The trend of combining organic shapes with futuristic elements is disrupting the design industry, presenting opportunities for innovative building materials and new construction techniques. - **Illusionary Interiors:** The trend of using mirrors and optical illusions to create an illusionary feel is disrupting interior design, presenting opportunities for innovative materials and technologies. - **Cavernous Spaces:** The trend of creating cavernous and dramatic spaces with organic shapes and natural lighting is disrupting the real estate industry, presenting opportunities for innovative building designs and space optimization. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Construction:** Innovative building materials and construction techniques can be developed to cater to the demand for organic futuristic designs. - **Interior Design and Furniture:** Innovative materials and technologies can be developed to create illusionary interiors with mesmerizing optical effects. - **Real Estate and Property Development:** Innovative building designs and space optimization techniques can be developed to create cavernous and dramatic spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bathroom-Centric Dubai Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bone-studio.md) - [Renovated Family-Friendly Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/covent-garden-apartment.md) - [Refined Urban Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/primrose-apartment.md) - [Renovated Terraced Penthouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tico-curvo.md) - [Cylindrical Furnished Penthouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-park-drive.md) - [Geometric Cave-Like Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavelike-homes.md) - [Modern Panoramic View Penthouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panorama-penthouse.md) - [Cave-Like Retail Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavelike-interior.md) - [Redesigned Curved Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taichung-apartment.md)
