Nixie tubes) to display the time. Each tube has a cathode in the shape of the numbers one through to nine. To display a numeral, power is sent to an individual cathode, which then glows orange. The base is made from a combination of cherry wood and shiny black anodized aluminum. Using a state of the art circuitry, time is kept by an ultra precise real time clock, accurate to within 0.0003s per minute. From Cathode Corner, this [elegant timekeeping piece of modern art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trace-line) retails at $415. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Nixie Tube Clocks:** Creating a demand for vintage-inspired timepieces that combine modern technology with retro aesthetics. - **Cold-cathode Tubes:** Utilizing cold-cathode tubes for various applications in the electronics industry, such as specialty lighting or display panels. - **Ultra-precise Real Time Clocks:** Developing highly accurate real time clocks for industries requiring precise timekeeping, such as aviation or scientific research. ### Where This Applies - **Consumer Electronics:** Driving the market for unique and stylish clocks that appeal to technology enthusiasts and retro design enthusiasts alike. - **Specialty Lighting:** Adopting cold-cathode tubes for decorative or functional lighting in hospitality, retail, or residential spaces. - **Aerospace:** Integrating ultra-precise real time clocks in aerospace systems to ensure accurate time synchronization for critical operations and data recording. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nostalgic Nixie Tube Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/btf-nixie-watch.md) - [Bespoke Brass Vintage Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nixei.md) - [Nixie Tube-Equipped Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nixie-tube-turntable.md) - [Tubular Illuminating Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacetime-blade.md) - [Mechanical Digital Mesmerizing Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triaxial-numechron-clock.md) - [Flowing Light Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crydal-scroll-clock.md) - [Pixelated Flip-Style Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniot-klapklok.md) - [Elegant Linear Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-clockworks.md) - [Barebones Retro-Inspired Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloudnola-flip-clock.md)
