# Many-Legged Movable Supports The Caterpillar Trestle Can Be Picked Up and Shifted Wherever By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-03-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-trestle References: [danielduarte.pt](http://www.danielduarte.pt/?/projects/project-CT/) You might first wonder about the function of the [Caterpillar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge) Trestle, since it looks a touch smaller than most [side tables and stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table). While this peculiar piece of furniture can effectively satisfy both of these functions, its primary purpose is to contribute to the structure of a table that you may build with a single panel on top. Designed by Daniel Duarte, this [whimsical object](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roach-clip-side-table) has seven wooden posts that splay out at different angles to hold up a narrow rectangular cap. This glossy white surface has a handle in the center for easy carrying, enabling you to move the Caterpillar Trestles about the room to become an overflow eating area or extra end tables. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Moveable Supports:** Innovative moveable supports like the Caterpillar Trestle can lead to the development of adaptable furniture suited for multi-use spaces - **Whimsical Furniture:** The rise of unconventional furniture designs like the Caterpillar Trestle can lead to unique and creative solutions for home decor - **Simple and Functional Design:** The popularity of minimalist design and multifunctional furniture can be observed in the Caterpillar Trestle, and can inspire similar product innovation ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the furniture industry could explore producing adaptable furniture that offers simplistic yet versatile functionality, similar to the Caterpillar Trestle - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies could incorporate more whimsical and unique designs into their products, such as the Caterpillar Trestle - **Interior Design:** Interior designers and architects could use the Caterpillar Trestle as inspiration when designing adaptable and multi-use spaces for their clients ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Industrial Shapeshifting Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jointable.md) - [Transforming Stool-Integrated Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quartet-side-table.md) - [Moveable Wave-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/side-table-concept.md) - [Portable Tray Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taso-tray-table.md) - [Creature-Like Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/octopus-center-table.md) - [Multifuntional Modular Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-table.md) - [Curvaceous Abstract Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-table.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Wheeled Bright Stumpy Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stump-stool-1.md)
