# Upcycled Feline Beds These Cute Cat Tents are Made from Old T-Shirts By M | Published 2014-05-14 | Updated 2014-07-08 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-tents References: [makezine](http://makezine.com/craft/how-to-cat-t-shirt-tent/) & [makezine](http://makezine.com/) If you happen to have a bunch of old T-shirts laying around and you’re cat needs a new place to sleep, why not turn those unused T-shirts into a series of nifty cat tents? Cats love to play so making a miniature cat-sized tent for them to snuggle up in makes perfect sense. To make this DIY cat tent all you need are two plastic rods, a needle and some thread. Start by sewing the bottom of the T-shirt shut to create a closed, pillow-case like shape. Then place two plastic bendy rods diagonal inside the T-shirt using the neck hole. The height of your cat tent can be adjusted depending on the length of the rods. The T-shirt neck hole conveniently becomes your cat’s personal entrance into their brand new tent. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Upcycling Cat Furniture:** There is a growing trend of repurposing materials to create unique and environmentally friendly cat beds and furniture. - **DIY Pet Projects:** More pet owners are embracing DIY projects to create personalized and cost-effective solutions for their pets, including homemade cat tents made from old T-shirts. - **Customizable Pet Accessories:** The trend of customization extends to pet accessories, with cat owners looking for ways to create unique and personalized spaces for their feline friends. ### Where This Applies - **Pet Products:** The pet products industry can capitalize on the trend of upcycling and DIY projects by offering eco-friendly and customizable cat beds and furniture. - **Textile and Apparel:** The textile and apparel industry has an opportunity to promote sustainable practices by encouraging the upcycling of old T-shirts into cat tents and other pet products. - **Craft and Hobby:** The craft and hobby industry can tap into the DIY trend by providing materials, tutorials, and tools for pet owners to create their own cat tents and other pet accessories. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Affordable Minimalist Cat Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petsy-cat-house.md) - [Playful Muffin-Inspired Cat Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pets-pods.md) - [Sustainable Portable Cat Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batsy-cat-shelter.md) - [Cat Cafe Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-cafe-beds.md) - [Cat-Friendly Seat Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jingcyuan-tang.md) - [Modular Cat Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-diy-cat-tree.md) - [Elevated Workstation Cat Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-nest-cat-bed.md) - [Pyramidal Feline Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-cat-furniture.md) - [Stylish Stimulating Cat Towers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catit.md)
