# Design-Centric Cat Scratchers The Corr Lounge by WISKI Makes an Inexpensive Material Look Elegant By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2018-04-13 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-scratchers References: [design-milk](https://design-milk.com/wiski-launches-with-two-modern-cat-scratchers/) & [wiskicat](https://wiskicat.com/corrlounge/) While there are plenty of cat scratchers that are made with cardboard, The Corr Lounge from [WISKI](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/felt-cat-bed) sets itself apart as a modern, elegant addition to one's home that does not look inexpensive. The simple cat scratcher boasts clean lines and a [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mew-cat-care-set) that is ergonomically designed to cradle a cat comfortably. The Corr Lounge includes a patent-pending elastic strap design from WISKI, which allows for the layers of cardboard to be held together without an adhesive. As such, the sheets of cardboard that make up the cat scratcher can easily be replaced to keep the piece of [pet furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pawstairs) looking fresh and new. Additionally, the core of the design is also replaceable, so that only the pieces that need replacing can be swapped out without requiring pet owners to break the bank. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Cat Scratchers:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore sustainable materials and innovative assembly methods to create minimalist and aesthetically pleasing cat scratchers. - **Ergonomic Pet Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop ergonomic designs for pet furniture that prioritize comfort and well-being for pets. - **Replaceable Pet Furniture Parts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design pet furniture with replaceable parts to offer cost-effective solutions and reduce environmental waste. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Pet Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create high-end and stylish pet products that enhance the overall aesthetic of pet owners' homes. - **Cardboard Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new techniques and materials to enhance the durability and visual appeal of cardboard-based products. - **Sustainable Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Innovate sustainable materials and manufacturing processes to create stylish and eco-friendly furniture for pets and humans. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Feline-Friendly Scratch Posts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coral-scratcher.md) - [Contemporary Cat Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Cat-Furniture-1.md) - [L-Shaped Pet Scratching Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catvas.md) - [Affordable Minimalist Cat Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petsy-cat-house.md) - [Origami-Like Pet Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/felt-cat-bed.md) - [Pyramidal Feline Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-cat-furniture.md) - [Stylish Stimulating Cat Towers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catit.md) - [Elegant Cat Litter Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elegant-cat-litter-box.md) - [Hybrid Feline-Friendly Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-cat-tower.md)
