# Picket-Fenced Secretaires Castle Reception Desk Give an Impression of an Approachable Enclosure By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-05-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/castle-reception-desk References: [markusjohansson](http://markusjohansson.com/project/castle/) The Castle Reception Desk has been designed for offices in which a secretary, a clerk or a receptionist is stationed in a fairly open space. Without four walls to create some sense of privacy for conversations and the concealing of electronics and paperwork, the setup really requires a [reasonably substantial workstation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mespace-workstation). Markus Johansson strove to design an [enclosed escritoire](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ma-camilla-isabel-reyes) that would not overwhelm its interior environment with an overly sizeable presence. To solve this, partitions were made as [vertical slats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calm-collection) that come to resemble the stakes of a picket fence. Dreamed up in white and a variety of other neutral colors, the Castle Reception Desk would successfully contain the employee's equipment and stationery, it would blend into corporate decor, and it would appear welcoming to visitors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Enclosed Escritoires:** There is an opportunity to create more efficient and space-saving enclosed workstations, especially for employees stationed in open spaces. - **Picket Fence Partitions:** The use of picket fence partitions is a unique and visually appealing way to add privacy to open workspaces. - **Neutral-colored Workstations:** The popularity of neutral colors in office decor opens up opportunities for more versatile workstation designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Office Furniture:** Companies in the office furniture industry can explore new designs for enclosed workstations and partitions that address the issue of privacy in open workspaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage the trend of visually appealing picket fence partitions to create unique and welcoming office spaces. - **Corporate Office Supplies:** Corporate office supply companies can explore the growing demand for neutral-colored furniture and workstations that offer both functionality and aesthetic appeal. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Monochromatic Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arqus-desk.md) - [People-Pleasing Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cubicle-system.md) - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Friendly Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-desk.md) - [Elegant Working Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindset-builtin-computer-desk.md) - [Minimalist Modular Creative Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-desk.md) - [Cozy Home Office Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tabloid-desk.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md) - [Employee Personalization Workstation Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zedo-desk.md)
