# Curvaceous Cabins Totems Architecture's Casey Key Guest House Has a Neo-Retro Look By Meghan Young | Published 2011-06-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casey-key-guest-house References: [whitezine](http://www.whitezine.com/en/design/totems-architecture-guest-house.html) & [totemsinc](http://totemsinc.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=19&Itemid=73) Despite the [Casey Key Guest House's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caseys-32-x-10) rugged wooden exterior, there is something almost futuristic about its [curvaceous design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-2). In fact, it has a bit of a neo-retro look to it, as though this is what the designers in the 70s would have imagined the future to look like. Designed by Totems Architecture, the Casey Key Guest House is located in Florida. Like a giant cocoon surrounded by lush foliage and blue waters, its singular aesthetic will really wow visiting family and friends. Offering luxurious comforts, it is a bridge between contemporary styles and natural surroundings. I especially like how the nature is embraced via [floor to ceiling windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beaufort-bushland-retreat) that makes it feel as though there is no beginning or end between the Casey Key Guest House and its environment. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Curvaceous Design:** Exploring curvaceous design in architecture can create futuristic and visually striking structures. - **Neo-retro Aesthetics:** Blending elements of retro design with modern sensibilities can result in unique and nostalgic visual experiences. - **Nature Integration:** Embracing nature through architectural features like floor-to-ceiling windows can create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Architects can leverage curvaceous design concepts to create innovative and visually captivating structures. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can draw inspiration from neo-retro aesthetics to create visually appealing and nostalgic spaces. - **Hospitality:** The integration of nature in hospitality spaces can offer guests a unique and immersive experience, blurring the boundaries between the built environment and natural surroundings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mid-Century-Themed Vacation Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bohlin-cywinski-jackson.md) - [Contemporary Nature-Inspired Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebo-house.md) - [Organic Lake Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usonianinspired-lake-house.md) - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md) - [Angular Getaway Cabin Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfmoon-bay.md) - [Temple-Inspired Idyllic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/k-residence-1.md) - [Arctic Floating Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-vipp-guesthouse.md) - [X-Shaped Nature-Interacting Gabled Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fowl-river-cabin.md) - [Tranquil Seasonal Canadian Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-cabin.md)
