# Small Sustainable Homes Casa Nirau by Paul Cremoux Studio is Stylish and Airy By Meghan Young | Published 2016-04-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-nirau References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/old-home-replaced-smaller-sustainable-house) & [paulcremoux](http://paulcremoux.com/en/2014/07/casa-nirau/) [Casa Nirau](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-con-lucarna) sits where once an old house resided. Smaller but much more sustainable, this new home is a stunning example of good design. Every detail is carefully thought out to create a living space that is not only functional, but also embraces the location it is based out of. Found in Mexico City, whereb at least 70% of the days every year having great weather, Casa Nirau embraces outdoor living as much as indoor. The living room opens up into the backyard to create a seamless blend of the two environments. Yet the stand out feature of Casa Nirau is the long horizontal window placed in the dining area that essentially frames the outdoor scene. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Small Sustainable Homes:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create innovative, eco-friendly living spaces that embrace outdoor living. - **Good Design:** Opportunity for businesses to prioritize thoughtful and intentional design in their products and services. - **Outdoor Living:** Opportunity for companies to develop outdoor living solutions, such as furniture and accessories, that seamlessly integrate with indoor spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to explore sustainable design principles and create small, sustainable homes. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate elements of outdoor living and good design into residential spaces. - **Furniture and Accessories:** Opportunity for companies to design and manufacture furniture and accessories that can be used both indoors and outdoors, creating a seamless blend of living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Climate-Generating Skylight Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-con-lucarna.md) - [Neighborhood House Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-cruda.md) - [Three-Story Garden Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nirvana-house.md) - [Lofty Minimalist Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-living-space1.md) - [Light-CelebratingTwo-Storey Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-tres-rboles.md) - [Nature-Preserving Mexican Lake Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-santa-maria-del-oro.md) - [Sustainable Canopy Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-solai.md) - [Dramatic Clifftop Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-yuri.md) - [Compact Sustainable Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cabana.md)
