# Scoop-Bottomed Bowls These Carved Wooden Bowls Were Formally Inspired by Spoon Markings By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-02-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carved-wooden-bowl References: [leibal](http://leibal.com/products/carved/) & [kutarq](http://kutarq.com/work/40/carved) You're probably used to seeing smooth bottoms in dishes, so there's something unexpected and creative about the design of these carved wooden bowls. Not quite plates and not quite cups, these timber tableware objects were aesthetically inspired by food, but they serves well to hold inedible items as well. The [Kutarq Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kutarq-studio) took the scooped pattern that appears within [yogurt](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/go-bowl) while you're eating it, applying this as a sculpted surface to the little lumber salvers. They come in different sizes with unique dimples and concave surfaces, presenting perfect indentations for collecting nuts, fruits, knickknacks and more. These carved wooden bowls become beautiful details for your kitchen, your bedroom dresser and your front foyer. They can hold jewelry and keys to help you control clutter in a delightful fashion. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Scoop-bottomed Bowls:** Incorporating scooped patterns in the design of bowls for a unique and unexpected aesthetic. - **Carved Wooden Tableware:** Using carved wooden bowls as functional and decorative objects inspired by food. - **Multifunctional Home Decor:** Creating home decor items that serve multiple purposes, such as holding inedible items while adding beauty to the space. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Goods:** Opportunity for home goods companies to create innovative carved wooden bowls with scooped patterns. - **Kitchenware:** Incorporating the design of scooped patterns into bowls for a new and interesting addition to kitchenware. - **Interior Design:** Using carved wooden bowls with unique indentations as decorative and functional pieces in interior design projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Imperfect Pasta Bowl Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasta-bowl.md) - [Sculptor-Inspired Sleek Bowl Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shou-sugi-ban-collection.md) - [Display-Centric Dynamic Fruit Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circuit.md) - [Dynamic Colored Glass Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-top-glass.md) - [Sustainable Kitchen Gear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/legni-collection.md) - [Peculiar Bottomless Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/troye-sivan.md) - [Creative Dipping Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dip-sea.md) - [Coconut-Based Dessert Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ice-dream-bowls.md) - [Speculative Cutlery Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evolving-spoon.md)
