# Dissected Cartoon Illustrations Tea Wei Draws the Insides of Characters in These Cartoon GIFs By Megan Facciuolo | Published 2014-03-17 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cartoon-gifs References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2014/03/13/Animated-Cartoon-Dissections-By-T-Wei/) & [t-wei](http://www.t-wei.com/) Artist Tea Wei turns popular characters into visions of dissection in these [illustrated cartoon GIFs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/junji-ito-artwork). The motioned images start off as squared characters and slowly expand into separated body pieces to reveal what's going on inside of them. It's highly unusual that a sponge would have inside organs, but according to Tea Wei's illustrations, [SpongeBob SquarePants'](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spongebob-squarepants-x-crocs-classic-clog) has his own type of digestive track. Though it sounds like a gruesome depiction, the illustrations are actually very vibrantly colored and creative. Expect to see a lot of yellow, blue and orange colored guts; apparently, these cartoons lack any other important organs. GIFs have been extremely popular in the form of videos, but now I'm sure you will run into more illustrated ones like Wei's on the Web. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Multimedia](https://www.trendhunter.com/multimedia) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Illustrated GIF Anatomy:** The trend of creating illustrated GIFs that depict the inside of popular animated characters presents opportunities for artists, animators, and designers to create new and unique content. - **Dissected Character Art:** Creating dissection-style artwork of popular characters serves as a disruptive innovation opportunity for merchandise companies, graphic designers, and animators looking to create edgy and trendy designs. - **Vivid Cartoon Anatomy:** The use of bright and vivid color schemes in dissection-style illustrations creates opportunities for artists and designers to create eye-catching and exciting content that stands out. ### Where This Applies - **Animation:** The animation industry can benefit from the trend of illustrated GIF anatomy by creating new and unique animated content that showcases the inside of popular cartoon characters. - **Graphic Design:** Graphic designers can take advantage of the trend of dissected character art by creating edgy and trendy designs for merchandise such as clothing, accessories, and home goods. - **Merchandise:** Merchandise companies looking to appeal to a younger demographic can capitalize on the trend of dissected character art by creating new products featuring popular characters with a colorful twist. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Cartoon Animation Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tooncrafter-ai.md) - [Expansive Cartoon Lifestyle Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/official-spongebob-squarepants-collection.md) - [Sleek Cartoon-Themed Watches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spinnaker.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Anatomical Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giant-skull-with-hidden-organs.md) - [Life Lesson Animated Cartoons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/veefriends-cartoons.md) - [Desktop GIF Displayers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cyber-cube.md) - [Hyper-Realistic Flesh Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/junji-ito.md) - [3D-Printed Flip Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stl-sculptures.md)
