# DIY Laptop Stands Recycled Cardboard Is Fast, Fun & Cheap for Computer Geeks By Andrew Robichaud | Published 2009-05-28 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-laptop-stands References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/how-to-make-your-own-recycled-cardboard-laptop-stand/) & [greenupgrader](http://greenupgrader.com/7603/diy-cardboard-laptop-stand/) The makers of fast, fun, and cheap (whoever they might be) have come up with the cardboard laptop stand. This innovative arts and crafts endeavor takes a simple cardboard box and, in a matter of minutes, turns it into workplace chic (I wouldn't suggest bringing it to work). TOOLS: Writing utensil, scissors and cardboard box (THAT SIMPLE). If you're really feeling inclined, add some designs or colours to that bad boy. **Implications** - Many consumers experience a sense of loss when it comes to buying a commodity as they lack contribution to the product's design. DIY artifacts are appealing to many individuals as this gives them a sense of empowerment. Companies would be wise to consider how their designs allow buyers to feel in control and valued. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **DIY Laptop Stands:** Opportunity for businesses to tap into the trend of DIY laptop stands by offering customizable and empowering designs. - **Recycled Cardboard:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for industries to explore the use of recycled cardboard as an affordable and sustainable material for various products. - **Arts and Crafts:** Potential for businesses to capitalize on the growing interest in arts and crafts by creating DIY projects that are fast, fun, and cheap. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture companies to incorporate DIY laptop stands into their product offerings, allowing customers to customize their workspace. - **Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for the technology industry to explore new materials, like recycled cardboard, to create eco-friendly and affordable accessories for laptops and other devices. - **Education:** Potential for educational institutions and companies to promote arts and crafts as a way to foster creativity and empower individuals to design and build their own functional products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Slender Ergonomic Laptop Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onepiece-laptop-stand.md) - [Structurally Artful Laptop Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yohann.md) - [Ergonomic Cardboard Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-chair-process-book.md) - [Ultra-Slim Folding Laptop Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metastand-pro.md) - [Multi-Purpose Computer Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/computer-stand3.md) - [Ultra-Portable Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-desk-design.md) - [Highly Portable Laptop Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maxtand-20.md) - [Origami-Inspired Laptop Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-x9-sleeve.md) - [Cardboard Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/box-exhibition.md)
