# Cardboard Tanks This Life-Sized Cardboard Abrams A1 Army Tank is Made from Recycled Boxes By Allison Love | Published 2010-07-04 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-abrams-a1-army-tank References: [theawesomer](http://theawesomer.com/cardboard-abrams-a1-tank/48290/) & [youtube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsEE2dHZoP4) Crafty designers have created a life-sized cardboard Abrams [A1](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campervan-conversion-kit) army tank. The tank was created entirely from [recycled cardboard boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetra-pak-and-keter), a couple of PVC pipes and chicken wire. Shaped and built around a truck, the tank can actually drive around and move just like a real army tank. The cardboard Abrams A1 army tank is actually pretty cool; however, I'm not entirely sure how I would react if I saw it driving down the street. More importantly, what happens when it rains and the cardboard gets mushy? Disastrous! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Cardboard Creations:** The trend of building products from recycled cardboard materials represents an opportunity for sustainable innovation. - **Repurposing Materials:** The trend of repurposing durable materials in creative ways allows for innovation in construction and manufacturing. - **Novelty Design:** The trend of creating quirky and unique designs can lead to innovative products and experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Sustainable Packaging:** The use of recycled cardboard in packaging materials represents a significant opportunity for disruption and innovation in the packaging industry. - **Construction and Architecture:** The use of durable recycled materials like cardboard in construction and architecture presents opportunities for cost-effective, sustainable designs. - **Manufacturing and Retail:** The trend of creating unique, novelty products from recycled materials lends itself to innovation in manufacturing and retail marketing strategies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cardboard Airplane Builds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-airplane.md) - [Upcycled Waste Material Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-furniture-design.md) - [DIY All-Terrain Tanks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allterrain-tank.md) - [Recycled Guitar Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-guitar-1.md) - [Cardboard Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/box-exhibition.md) - [Angular Remote-Controlled Tanks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rc-kit.md) - [Cardboard Box Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karton-furniture-collection.md) - [Cardboard-Inspired Ceramic Household Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-collection.md) - [High-Speed Remote-Controlled Tanks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xrc-brawler.md)
