# Hybrid Climbing Equipment The Carabiner Mountain Stick Combines Two Critical Contraptions By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-07 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carabiner-mountain-stick References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/01/07/the-mountain-climbers-new-best-friend/) Mountaineering enthusiasts can find all sorts of uses for the standard carabiner, and now Jingyu Lee suggests its integration into a handy [walking stick](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-duty-walking-poles). Called the Carabiner Mountain Stick, the stabilizing pole is convenient to have at hand on lengthy and challenging expeditions, and with this design, you can attach other useful objects to it too. A telescopic body enables you to shorten the climber's cane to create compactness when it isn't required. With it closed up, the Carabiner Mountain Stick can be easily clipped onto the side of a backpack, or even to the user's outerwear. This contraption would be lightweight and could be treated like a hub fastener, holding other carabiners and the like. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Hybrid Climbing Equipment:** The integration of multiple climbing tools into one device creates opportunities for more efficient and versatile mountain climbing experiences. - **Telescopic Design:** The use of telescopic bodies in climbing equipment allows for increased portability and convenience during expeditions. - **Multifunctional Attachments:** The ability to attach useful objects to climbing equipment opens up possibilities for improved utility and convenience during climbs. ### Where This Applies - **Outdoor Sports Equipment:** Innovations in hybrid climbing equipment present opportunities for companies in the outdoor sports equipment industry to develop new and improved products. - **Adventure Tourism:** The integration of multiple climbing tools into one device can enhance the safety and experience of adventure tourists, providing opportunities for companies in the adventure tourism industry. - **Camping and Hiking Gear:** The telescopic design and multifunctional attachments in climbing equipment can be extended to camping and hiking gear, offering disruptive innovation opportunities for companies in this industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Heavy-Duty Multitool Carabiner Clips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivot-x-carabiner.md) - [Multitool Titanium Carabiner Clips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/titanium-carabiner-keychain.md) - [Titanium Tool-Integrated Carabiners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mr-gadget-edrin.md) - [Skeletonized Carabiner Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolt-carabiner-vii.md) - [Functional Everyday Carabiners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craighill.md) - [18-in-One Carabiner Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/octo-multitool.md) - [Dual-Purpose Camping Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chair-a.md) - [Metallic Multitool Carabiner Clips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/titanium-multitool-carabiner.md) - [Compact Camping Multi-Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gerber-stake-out.md)
