# Flashy Fence Installations Capturing Resonance by Soo Sunny Park Sparkles and Shimmers in Light By Meghan Young | Published 2012-01-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capturing-resonance References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/soo-sunny-park-capturing-resonance) & [soosunnypark.4ormat](http://soosunnypark.4ormat.com/) It is always interesting to see everyday, practical objects in a new light; the Capturing Resonance installation takes classic chain link fences and turns them into works of art. The pieces are so beautiful that it is easy to overlook its fence foundation at first. Created by sculptor Soo Sunny Park in collaboration with sound artist Spencer Topel, the Capturing Resonance art installation hangs from the third floor ceiling of the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Park, known for using generic industrial materials, places [colorful Plexiglas squares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorscape-installation) between the fence links, creating a multi-hued shell that acts like a [disco ball when light hits it](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowers-and-butterflies-are-dancing). The audio portion of the Capturing Resonance art installation interacts with the museum visitors, playing sounds depending on the volume and speed of the audience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Artistic Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of unconventional materials or repurposing everyday objects to create unique art installations. - **Interactivity in Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate technology or audience participation to create interactive art experiences that engage and respond to visitors. - **Blurring Boundaries:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Blur the boundaries between traditional art forms and other disciplines, such as sound art, to create multidimensional art experiences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Sculpture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce new materials, techniques, or interactive elements that transform traditional sculptures into immersive and dynamic art pieces. - **Museums and Galleries:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate audiovisual technology or interactive installations to create engaging and participatory museum experiences that attract and educate visitors. - **Event and Experience Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create immersive and sensorial experiences through the integration of sound, light, and interactive elements, blurring the lines between art and design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Urban Soundscape Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-installation.md) - [Circular Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shen-sculpture.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md) - [Nature-Inspired Urban Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kriskadecor-1.md) - [Unique Interactive Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-aurora.md) - [Intricate Lighting Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-of-common-interest1.md) - [Immersive Light Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spencer-finch.md) - [Inflatable Vibrant Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer.md) - [Heritage Sound Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hornscape-playground.md)
