This small wooden chapel is on the side of a mountain and is meant for the carrying out of small, religious ceremonies. The architect for this egg chapel is Andrew MacNair, who works and lives in his home in New York City. The chapel is currently under construction and is being built by a number of boat makers. The simplistic design for the chapel is rather complex and is meant to be a place of beginnings where baptisms and weddings can be held. It will also serve as a place of endings where funerals can be held. The Cappella Ovi Egg Chapel stands 40 feet tall and was shipped in 12 vertical sections from New York to Korea. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Egg-shaped Architecture:** The unique and visually striking styling of egg-shaped architecture offers new design possibilities for structures of all kinds. - **Sustainable Design:** By using primarily wood and other natural materials, the construction of the Cappella Ovi Egg Chapel reflects a growing emphasis on sustainable and environmentally-friendly design practices. - **Multifunctional Structures:** The Cappella Ovi Egg Chapel's versatility as a space for both weddings and funerals highlights a trend towards multifunctional and adaptable structures that can better meet the needs of users. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Egg-shaped chapels and other unique designs offer architects new opportunities to explore innovative approaches to building design. - **Religious Services:** The Cappella Ovi Egg Chapel and other unconventional religious structures provide religious organizations with new ways to create distinctive and memorable experiences for their members and communities. - **Sustainable Materials:** As sustainable design practices continue to grow in popularity, there is a growing need for sustainable materials that are both durable and visually appealing, which opens opportunities for innovative and eco-friendly material companies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Building-Nestled Compact Cafes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapel-cafe.md) - [Hillside Timber Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapel-of-st-thrse-of-lisieux.md) - [Compact Urban Cafes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-chapel.md) - [Inverted Boat Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-barca.md) - [Sacred Timber Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-church-tolvkanten.md) - [Modern Tuscan Chapel Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pailunga-tuscan-chapel.md) - [Fried Egg-Inspired Canopy Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunny-side-up-extension.md) - [Star-Shaped Structural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-archipelagic-void.md) - [Waved Metal-Wrapped Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/9-chapel.md)
