# Superhero Grilling Gear The Caperon by Betabrand is a Cape-Apron Hybrid for Epic Grillmasters By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2011-06-03 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caperon-by-betabrand References: [eater](http://eater.com/archives/2011/06/02/behold-the-caperon-half-cape-half-apron.php) & [betabrand](http://www.betabrand.com/betalabs/the-caperon.html) The Caperon by Betabrand is the ultimate accessory for epic grillmasters. The [cape-apron hybrid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sauce-proof-shirts) is cut out of a star-spangled fabric; according to Betabrand, it's "worthy of a 21-tong salute" and "will make terrorists think twice before targeting your next pig roast." That's heavy stuff. Last week's Memorial Day holiday officially rang in the [grilling season](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-huntsman-kettle-kamado), and Father's Day is just around the corner. The Caperon by Betabrand would be the perfect gift for the resident grillmaster in any household -- bonus points if the recipient is also a fan of [comic books, America and superheroes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superman-collection). My favorite aspect of the star-covered Caperon is the collar that separates cape from apron. I can't help but wonder whether *the* way to wear the Caperon will be with the collar popped or kept down. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Superhero Grilling Gear:** The trend of combining superhero aesthetics with grilling accessories is creating opportunities for innovative products that appeal to fans of both cooking and comic books. - **Cape-apron Hybrid:** The growing popularity of cape-apron hybrids is driving the development of unique and functional accessories that elevate the grilling experience with a touch of style and theatricality. - **Star-spangled Fabric:** The use of star-spangled fabric in grilling gear is a trend that presents opportunities for patriotic-themed products that resonate with consumers looking to display their love for their country while cooking. ### Where This Applies - **Outdoor Cooking Equipment:** Manufacturers in the outdoor cooking equipment industry can explore the integration of superhero themes and design elements into their products, appealing to a niche market of grilling enthusiasts who are also fans of comic book culture. - **Fashion and Apparel:** The fashion and apparel industry has the potential to tap into the trend of superhero-inspired grilling gear by creating stylish and functional cape-apron hybrids that can be worn during outdoor cooking activities. - **Home Decor and Giftware:** The home decor and giftware industry can seize the opportunity to offer unique and novel grilling accessories, such as star-spangled fabric aprons, that cater to consumers looking for patriotic-themed items to enhance their grilling experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Streetwear-Branded Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/supreme-grill.md) - [Pro-Grade Griller Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grill-tools.md) - [Heavy-Duty Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epicurean-bbq-board.md) - [Travel-Friendly Grilling Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-tailgater.md) - [BBQ-Themed Napkin-Made Outfits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drip-fit.md) - [Grill-Ready Hot Sauce Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-sauce-gift-set.md) - [Old-Fashioned Toolbox Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-blaze-charcoal-grill.md) - [Flatpack Campsite Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-camping-grill.md) - [Flaming Fare Dining Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flaming-grill-dining-experience.md)
