# Glass Plank Furniture Brian Kuchler's Cantilevered Table is Minimalist and Contemporary By Meghan Young | Published 2011-07-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cantilevered-table References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2011/07/25/cantilevered-table-by-brian-kuchler/) & [briankuchler](http://www.briankuchler.com/#1297228/CANTILEVER-TABLE) It is always nice to invest in everyday items like furniture, especially when they have a bit of a twist to their design such as the Cantilevered Table does. Although at first glance, it may look like a typical table with its glass top and white or steel base, the Cantilevered Table is actually quite unique considering that it has a planklike aesthetic thanks to its cantilever design (hence its name). Created by American designer Brian Kuchler, the Cantilevered Table is a rather minimalist piece of furniture. Therefore, it would fit in nicely to just about any home. Of course, a more contemporary setting would befit it better than something slightly more antiquated. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Furniture:** The Cantilevered Table represents a trend towards minimalist furniture design that focuses on simplicity and clean lines. - **Contemporary Table Design:** The Cantilevered Table exemplifies the trend towards contemporary table designs that incorporate unique and innovative elements. - **Cantilevered Furniture:** The Cantilevered Table showcases the trend of using cantilevered structures in furniture design for a sleek and visually striking aesthetic. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The minimalist and contemporary design trend opens up opportunities for furniture manufacturers to create and market sleek, modern pieces. - **Interior Design:** The popularity of minimalist and contemporary furniture design trends provides opportunities for interior designers to create cohesive and stylish living spaces. - **Glass Manufacturing:** The demand for unique and innovative glass furniture designs, like the Cantilevered Table, presents opportunities for glass manufacturers to explore new techniques and materials. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Juxtaposing Material Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compression-dining-table.md) - [Splintered Storage Console Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flitter-console-table.md) - [Glass Geometry Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-collection.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md) - [Ultra-Minimalist Metallic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisk.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Cloud-Inspired Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-tables1.md) - [Terrazzo Side Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-side-table.md) - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md)
