[Canon South Africa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lens-announcements) has spearheaded this new initiative and aims to provide insightful training and exposure to photographers who typically do not have access to photographic equipment and expertise. [Canon Academy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/never-break-your-flow) is free for anyone who owns a listed Canon camera model. This new program is in keeping with the [Canon Collective](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/official-imaging-partner) initiative - launched in 2020 to help photography enthusiasts and beginners. Students enrolled in Canon Academy will work with a selected group of young photographers who all specialize in different genres and possess unique skills. The sessions run for one day and offer a robust curriculum - from camera training sessions, basic camera function breakdowns, photographic element and genre explanations.
