# Quirky Scenic Photography These Candid Photos of Romanian Scenes are Both Unusual and Mundane By Charlotte Joyce Kidd | Published 2015-10-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/candid-photos References: [mashkulture.net](http://mashkulture.net/2015/09/28/tamas-hajdu-photography) & [hajdutamas.blogspot](http://hajdutamas.blogspot.ca/) Photographer Tamas Hajdu takes candid photos of people and animals in his native Romania. The pictures are stark and give the impression of overwhelming ordinariness -- but they often contain a pleasantly surprising or unusual element, like a cow hiding in bushes or a tiny toy car on the dashboard of a real car. The pictures showcase a unique talent for finding the irony or the oddity in small situations that most people would overlook: pigeons gathering in a patch of concrete that has been protected from the snow by a now-gone parked car, for example, or a snow-white statue of a soft-serve ice cream cone standing above a mound of dirty black snow. The images create the feeling that Hajdu is taking us on a walk through his city, pointing out things that delight and surprise, but that we never would have noticed on our own. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Candid Photography:** There is an opportunity for photographers to capture ordinary scenes in a unique and surprising way. - **Finding Irony:** There is a market for capturing small situations that contain ironic or odd elements, which most people would overlook. - **Delighting with Surprises:** There is a demand for showcasing delightful and surprising moments in everyday life through photography. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Photographers can explore new approaches to candid photography by capturing the mundane with a twist. - **Art:** Artists can use the concept of finding irony in small situations to create thought-provoking and visually appealing pieces. - **Tourism:** The tourism industry can leverage the idea of delighting with surprises to promote unique experiences and destinations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Imperfect Photography Celebrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nonnas-cam.md) - [Miniaturized Product Art Photographs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/small-muji.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Travel Photography Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/all-within-the-detour.md) - [Personal Nostalgic Photo Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holy-ohio.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md)
