# Sofas That Climb Walls Canape by Lila Jang By Ayman | Published 2008-07-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canape-lila-jang References: [designklub.blogspot](http://designklub.blogspot.com/2008/07/lila-jang.html) Designer Lila Jang's **Canape** is certainly not your [typical sofa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biboni-sofa). For starters, the corner piece looks as if it's going to climb the wall, with three feet on the floor and three on the wall. The eye-catching design has a rebellious attitude and 'personality' that elevates it to more than just a piece of furniture. Plus, you can use it to [sit or lay down](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-pillo) and read a book, thanks to the resulting arch. The peculiar design was recently featured in an exhibition called Parcours Saint-Germain in Paris, France. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Wall-climbing Furniture:** Opportunity for designers and furniture companies to create unique furniture pieces that challenge traditional design conventions. - **Personality-infused Design:** Opportunity for designers to infuse personality and attitude into everyday objects, elevating them to more than just a functional item. - **Multi-functional Seating:** Opportunity to create furniture that serves multiple functions, such as the Canape sofa which can be used for sitting or laying down to read a book. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity to innovate and create new, unconventional furniture designs that stand out in a crowded market. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate unique and eye-catching furniture pieces into interior design projects. - **Art Exhibitions:** Opportunity for artists and designers to showcase their unique and unconventional designs in art exhibitions and galleries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organic Contour Couch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siwa-sofa.md) - [Modular Triangular Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moooi-peaks-sofa.md) - [Curved Bed-Inspired Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velar-sofa.md) - [Illusory Floating Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-soft-sofa.md) - [Flexible Landscape-Like Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airberg-sofa-collection.md) - [Modular Cat-Friendly Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quarter-sofa.md) - [Modular Minimalist Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zonatta-bumper-sofa.md) - [Cocoon-Like Multifunctional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usofa.md) - [Precariously Suspended Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suspended-sofa.md)
