# Elegant Curling Couches The Calumet Sofa Has a Sinuous Form, Unusual Amongst its Type of Furniture By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-11-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calumet-sofa References: [furniturefashion](http://www.furniturefashion.com/style-redefinied-calumet-couch-ola-voyna/) & [olavoyna](http://olavoyna.com/?page_id=222) The word "couch" might conjure images of big bulky chesterfields with puffy plushy cushions -- this is not what you get with the Calumet Sofa. This stylish piece of [living room furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biboni-sofa) guides your eye in a long and swirling glance that follows its graceful cast iron frame from its curling legs, across its undulating surface and into its broad spiraling headrest. The delicate metal structure of the Ola Voyna piece can be finished in black or its metallic silver. Further customization is possible with the use of [pillowy padding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sander-series) that can be fastened to the recliner portion and [curvaceous head](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cozmo-hug) of the Calumet Sofa. Quilted stripes, cozy fur and other comfy cushioning can be applied to make the graceful and luxurious object and ideal place to sprawl out. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Sinuous Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new designs and materials for furniture with sinuous forms. - **Customization Options:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new ways to personalize furniture with customizable features like pillows and padding. - **Graceful Minimalism:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine elegance and simplicity in furniture design for a modern aesthetic. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate sinuous forms and customization options into furniture designs for enhanced customer appeal. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of graceful minimalist furniture to create elegant and functional living spaces. - **Home Decor Retail:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Offer customizable furniture options to cater to individual customer preferences and enhance the shopping experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organic Contour Couch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siwa-sofa.md) - [Cozy Curving Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hessentia.md) - [Organically Shaped Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repose-sofa.md) - [Plush Sculptural Lounge Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokko.md) - [Extremely Luxurious Curved Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curved-yellow-sofa.md) - [Decadent Lounge Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poet-sofa.md) - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Enveloping Sofa Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo.md) - [Oblong Color-Blocked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meritalia-morphologica-collection.md)
