Captured by Los Angeles-based photography team Rickett & Sones, the California photo series portrays hauntingly beautiful dreamscapes of everything from deserts to mountains and seashores. The surreal and romantic-looking series was created using long exposure times and modern photography techniques to give the images the [psychedelic and sweetly misty twist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-psychedelia). The talented duo were able to snap the series during their many road trips around the city, in which they went everywhere to be able to get such stunning shots which will help portray the mostly urban city in a new light. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Whimsical Photography:** Explores the use of long exposure and modern techniques to create surreal and romantic-looking images. - **Dreamscape Landscapes:** Portrays surprising and ethereal landscapes in the city of lights. - **Road Trip Photography:** Capture stunning shots of various locations during road trips around the city. ### Where This Applies - **Photography:** Opportunity to experiment with long exposure and modern techniques to create unique and captivating images. - **Travel and Tourism:** Highlight the hidden and unexpected beauty of cities through dreamlike landscapes. - **Art and Design:** Incorporate surreal and romantic elements into artwork to evoke emotion and create a new visual experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Summer-Inspired Photo Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/summer-dreaming-collection.md) - [Surrealist Shopping Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreams-is.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Photographic Winery Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/winery-experience.md) - [AI Travel Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epic-ai-travel-photos.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Augmented Reality Travel Murals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/travel-murals.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md)
