# Curled Corner Hearths Caleido Biofireplace is Stylish, Subtle and Unlike its Common Counterparts By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-31 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caleido-biofireplace References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2012/07/A4-Biofireplace.html) & [canepadesign.it](http://www.canepadesign.it/web.html) Where a fireplace used to command attention in a room as a grand architectural feature, the contemporary era has treated it differently to produce more delicate examples like the Caleido Biofireplace. Here, the idea of [the hearth](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-house) has been reduced to a relatively lightweight [wall-mounted sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fireplace-designs) that generates a single orange flame. I suspect that the petite dimensions of the stove match those of a standard sheet of writing paper, as suggested by its nickname of the A4 Fireplace. A glossy epoxy-coated panel of carbon steel is oriented portrait-style and accented with an elegant curl to its lower left corner. This physical feature hides a [stainless steel burner](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-stainlesssteel) so that Alessandro Canepa's Caleido Biofireplace seems to blaze exquisitely and simply like an illusion to the eyes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Biofireplaces:** The trend towards minimalistic biofireplaces presents an opportunity for innovative designs that are sleek, subtle, and visually striking. - **Lightweight Wall-mounted Sculptures:** The rise of lightweight wall-mounted sculptures as fireplaces opens up possibilities for creating unique and artistic designs that serve as both functional heating elements and stylish decor. - **Epoxy-coated Carbon Steel Panels:** The use of epoxy-coated carbon steel panels in fireplace design offers a durable and visually appealing material for creating modern and eye-catching fireplaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor and Interior Design:** The home decor and interior design industry can tap into the trend towards minimalist biofireplaces to offer innovative and visually striking fireplace designs that seamlessly blend with modern interiors. - **Metal Fabrication and Manufacturing:** Metal fabrication and manufacturing companies have an opportunity to explore the production of lightweight wall-mounted sculptures that function as biofireplaces, combining aesthetics and functionality in unique ways. - **Chemical Coating and Finishing:** Chemical coating and finishing companies can leverage the demand for epoxy-coated carbon steel panels in fireplace design to offer high-quality coatings that provide durability, protection, and visual appeal. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mixed-Material Tabletop Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brasscene-harmony-flame-fireplace.md) - [Portable Cylindrical Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecosmart-fire-pillar-3t.md) - [Slick Modern Holographic Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holographic-fireplace.md) - [Communal Fireplace Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-coffee-table.md) - [Flatpack Virtual Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphene-radiator.md) - [Convenient Personal Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-fireplace1.md) - [Cooking-Friendly Outdoor Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/regg-surprise.md) - [Design-Conscious Space Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-heater.md) - [Bioethanol Fireplace Website Debuts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/le-feu-fires.md)
