The [oblong-shaped sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/butter-sofa) allow people to sink in and relax, while the [circular arm chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunk-doughnut-chair) create a cocoon-like environment. The designs rest on curved, steel bases that help create a unique silhouette, while maintaining sense of chic sophistication. The chair's retro vibes are balanced by a strong sense of modernization, which includes the unique shapes and steel finishes. These chairs would be best suited for a waiting or lobby area as their diverse nature allows patrons to relax as they please, while providing a space for multiple people. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Pastry-inspired Furniture:** This trend presents an opportunity for furniture designers to experiment with unconventional and playful shapes, while incorporating modern elements for a unique and sophisticated look. - **Circular Arm Chairs:** This trend presents an opportunity for the hospitality industry to create comfortable and inviting spaces for patrons, while incorporating a playful and retro vibe. - **Oblong-shaped Sofas:** This trend presents an opportunity for furniture designers to create visually interesting pieces that promote relaxation and comfort, while incorporating unconventional shapes and unique bases. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can take inspiration from pastry and confectionery for creating visually appealing pieces that combine uniqueness and modern elements. - **Hospitality Industry:** The hospitality industry can incorporate these furniture designs to provide comfortable and playful spaces for patrons, while creating unique and memorable experiences. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can use pastry-inspired furniture designs to create unique and playful spaces that combine a retro vibe and modern sophistication. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Voluptuous Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voluptuous-seating.md) - [Oozing Cake-Like Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roll-furniture.md) - [Playful Toy-Like Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frunchroom-furniture-collection.md) - [Mochi-Inspired Seating Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mochiinspired-seating.md) - [Bubbly Boucle Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prostoria-buffa-collection.md) - [Cinnamon Roll-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bun-bun-chair.md) - [Modern Curvy Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curvy-furniture-design.md) - [Dynamic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-dixon-fat-and-plump.md)
