# Cactus-Shaped Lighting These Cactus Lamps Spread a Plant-Inspired Design on the Wall By Ell Smith | Published 2017-06-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cactus-lamps References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2017/06/20/cute-cactus-lamps-by-chen-bikovski-2/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/biko/popup-lighting-when-light-meets-art) Israeli-based designer Chen Bikovski created adorable [cactus lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banana-lamp) that when illuminated, reveal a shadow that appears to look like the spiky succulent. Inspired by popup books, these lamps spread a cactus-shaped light on the wall, creating a warming glow that makes your space feel a little more homey. The lamps come in small steel pots, to give the light-shaped vegetation they hold a more authentic look. These original lamps also prove to be a low maintenance alternative to owning [house plants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luffa-collection), adding both light and flare. The artist describes [popup lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foreshadow-table-lamp) as "a unique wall fixture that combines functionality and art," illuminating a room, but also making for an eye-catching piece. The fixture becomes both art and object, fusing design with practicality and making something beautiful and fun out of everyday items. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Plant-inspired Lighting:** Designers can explore creating lighting elements inspired by plants, giving homes a more eco-friendly and natural ambiance. - **Popup Lighting:** Creating unique wall fixtures that combine functionality and art can open the doors to a wider range of lighting options. - **Low Maintenance Home Decor:** Designers can create products that offer low maintenance home decor options that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** Incorporating plant-inspired, low maintenance lighting elements into home decor products could attract customers looking for functional yet attractive decor options. - **Lighting Design:** Developing unique and artistic lighting fixtures can expand the range of lighting options available in the market. - **Sustainable Design:** Designers can explore using sustainable materials and incorporating eco-friendly design elements in the creation of functional home decor products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Plant-Based Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plantbased-lamp.md) - [Money Plant-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pilea-lamp.md) - [Demure Dual-Function Hanging Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-fixture-planter.md) - [Geometric-Shaped Wall Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light.md) - [Multifunctional C-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Plant-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palmetto-lamp.md) - [Naturalistic Biophilic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bioo-lamp.md) - [Blooming Paper Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kazuhiro-yamanaka-tsubomi-lamp.md)
