# Cactus-Inspired Shelter Cactaceae by X Studio Provides Sanctuary from Desert Heat By Meghan Young | Published 2013-11-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cactaceae-by-x-studio References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2013/11/14/geometric-shelter-inspired-by-a-cactus/) & [x-studio](http://www.x-studio.tv) Cactaceae by X Studio, a design firm based in Mexico and founded by Iván Juárez, is a geometric shelter that was inspired by its surroundings. In particular, it takes cues from the shape and function of cacti. Lying low to the ground and full of sharp edges, it is certainly an abstract take on the desert foliage. Nevertheless, through its influence, the futuristic shelter provides the right sanctuary in such a setting. Located in the desert of the Tropic of Cancer in Mexico, Cactaceae by X Studio is made out of a metal frame. The muted panels that keep the heat of the sun's rays from penetrating inside boasts primitive patterns that are beautiful to behold. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Geometric Shelters:** Opportunity for innovative designs of shelters inspired by geometric shapes and patterns. - **Abstract Desert Foliage:** Potential for unconventional designs that draw inspiration from the unique forms and features of desert plants. - **Futuristic Sanctuaries:** Demand for futuristic shelter designs that provide protection and comfort in extreme environments. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architecture firms can explore new possibilities in designing unconventional shelters that integrate geometric aesthetics. - **Environmental Design:** Opportunity for environmental designers to create sustainable and visually appealing structures inspired by desert foliage. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Potential for innovative and futuristic accommodations that offer unique experiences in desert destinations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Illuminated Cave-Like Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/javier-senosiain-arquitectos.md) - [Dessert-Nestled Tent Lookouts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clover-studio.md) - [Off-Grid Oceanside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campos-studio.md) - [Nature-Preserving Mexican Lake Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-santa-maria-del-oro.md) - [Desert-Nestled Home Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/high-desert-home.md) - [Artful Wooden Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orchid-pavilion.md) - [Experimental Shelter Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grayhus.md) - [Off-Grid Mountain Shelter Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/genius-show.md) - [Tree-Centered Cubic Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tonalli-house.md)
