# Cabin-Themed Condominiums This Unique Residential Project Gives Off a Distinct Urban Lodge Vibe By David Ingram | Published 2015-12-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinthemed References: [cabintoronto](http://www.cabintoronto.com/) & [us9mpaign-archive1](http://us9.campaign-archive1.com/?u=c1b53090f19ab863f62f13baa&id=f694dcf486) This upcoming cabin-themed residential complex is a six-storey collective inspired by the distinct aesthetic of a northern escape in the heart of the city. Located in Toronto, Ontario, the sculptural facade of the 'CABIN' condo complex was designed by RAW studio, and is made from a wood and metal exterior designed to mimic the look of a [Northern Canadian cottage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pine-island-cottage). The interior of each home was designed by Toronto-based design firm [Mason Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-office1), and features a charmingly warm and nostalgic wooden theme throughout. To celebrate the upcoming project, a presentation center was built entirely from [reusable shipping containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cabana) featuring the same cabin-themed interior. By choosing shipping containers over a more permanent structure, the temporary instillation can therefore be recycled afterword instead of simply being demolished. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Cabin-themed Condominiums:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design and develop residential complexes that embrace unique and thematic aesthetics to create distinctive urban living experiences. - **Wood and Metal Exterior:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of unconventional materials, like wood and metal, to create visually striking facades that mimic other architectural styles or concepts. - **Reusable Shipping Container Structures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate alternative building methods, such as shipping containers, to create sustainable and flexible temporary installations that can be repurposed or recycled after use. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Real Estate Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Revolutionize the design and construction of residential complexes by incorporating unique and themed aesthetics that cater to specific lifestyle preferences and interests, attracting a niche market. - **Architectural Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Push the boundaries of architectural design by using unconventional materials and techniques to create visually stunning and conceptually interesting buildings that stand out from traditional structures. - **Sustainability and Green Building:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate sustainable building practices and materials, such as repurposed shipping containers, to reduce environmental impact and promote the concept of circular economy in the construction industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md) - [Futuristic Modular Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebl-grand-cabin.md) - [Black-Stained Wooden Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smoke-lake-cabin.md) - [Timber-Clad Canadian Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-cime.md) - [Cedar-Clad Cabin Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prospect-berkshires-resort.md) - [Captivating Modern Prefab Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skali-backcountry-cubiod.md) - [Countryside Woodland Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aralar-cottage.md) - [Tranquil Seasonal Canadian Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-cabin.md) - [Affordable Timber Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-pod.md)
