# Flown the Coop Furnishings The Bye-Bye Bird Table Takes Flight with an Iconic Object By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-06-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bye-bye-bird-table References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/40901/) & [web.fplusk](http://web.fplusk.com/#258623/Bye-bye-bird) Why must a table be simply a table, when pieces like the Bye-Bye Bird Table remind us of what fun design can truly be. Runa Klock of Frøystad + Klock conceived this adorable [bird cage coffee table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dog-crate-and-end-table) with a [quirky escape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roach-clip-side-table) from the standard structures of both. With an interest in aesthetics, the surface has been embellished with far more vertical supports than necessary, as proven by its uncompromised support despite manipulation to the wires on one side. Not strictly replicating a birdcage either, the playful piece has no hatch, but instead reveals an opening that suggests your feathered friend had pried apart the [brass bars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept). The perfect lighthearted element to add to any living space, the Bye-Bye Bird Table can double as an ideal shelter for a pet bed. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Playful Furniture Design:** Opportunity to create furniture designs with a lighthearted and whimsical touch. - **Unexpected Form and Function:** Opportunity to incorporate unexpected and unique functionalities to furniture designs. - **Eclectic Aesthetics:** Opportunity to create furniture designs that mix and match various design elements. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture companies to create unique and playful designs that stand out from the competition. - **Pet Products:** Opportunity for pet product companies to create furniture pieces that double as pet-friendly shelters and accessories. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate unexpected and whimsical furniture pieces into their design concepts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Like Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-coffee-table.md) - [Curvaceous Animalistic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookpet-coffee-table.md) - [Sculpted One-Piece Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pelican-coffee-table.md) - [Aircraft Door Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-exit-door-table.md) - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Splintered Storage Console Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flitter-console-table.md) - [Ultra-Minimalist Metallic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisk.md) - [Maximalist UFO Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-saucer-coffee-table.md) - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md)
