# Circular Multi-Seated Benches The Buzz Bench Brings New Style to Communal Seating By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-03-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buzz-bench References: [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/design/vestre-buzz-bench-communal-interactions-03-07-2014/) & [vestre](http://www.vestre.com/) The Buzz Bench is a very stylish way to bring people together. The bench features a large circular table surrounded by five other small circular seats. The seats were developed by [Vestre Ore Borgersen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-furniture1), Michael Olofsson and Espen Voll and has a simple plan, to get people to enjoy each other's company. The seats are relatively close to one another so putting the seat in a public area will encourage interaction between strangers. An average bench is straight and when filled with people everyone is facing one way. On this bench, everybody is looking at each other so avoiding interaction would seem a lot more strained than usual. In a world where everyone avoids everyone else in favor of phones, this is a refreshing piece of furniture Photo Credits: [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/design/vestre-buzz-bench-communal-interactions-03-07-2014/), [vestre](http://www.vestre.com/) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Circular Communal Seating:** Creating comfortable communal spaces with circular seating arrangements can encourage interaction and socializing. - **Interactive Public Furniture:** Developing public furniture with the focus on encouraging social interactions can lead to increasing engagement among the public. - **Innovative Bench Design:** Innovative bench designs like circular multi-seated benches can address the need for social interaction while implementing creative and aesthetic design solutions. ### Where This Applies - **Public Space Design Industry:** This industry could benefit from implementing innovative designs that promote social interaction in public areas, and lead to increased community engagement. - **Hospitality Industry:** Hotels, restaurants, and other space providers could benefit from implementing similar communal seating arrangements that encourage interaction between guests and lead to a more enjoyable experience. - **Furniture Design Industry:** This industry could explore innovative designs like the Buzz Bench that create new functional and aesthetic solutions for seating arrangements in public and private spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bike-Friendly Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinajarro-bench.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Childhood Connection-Promoting Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buddy-bench1.md) - [Rotating Solar-Powered Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-solarpowered-bench-that-spins-ever-so-slowly.md) - [Modular Outdoor Space Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mass-public-bench.md) - [Traffic Light-Inspired Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/traffic-light-bench.md) - [Dual-Seated Plate Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/move-a-little-bit-further.md) - [Inclusive Modular Cityscape Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-bench.md) - [Seesaw-Like Playful Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-bench.md)
