The art form is supposed to recreate only the important characteristics of an individual. If this is true, Livio Scapella's [bust sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terra-frammenti) have saddening and terrifying characteristics. The Italian artist sculpted the heads to look as though they are shrouded. Beneath the linen which restricts them, they are crying out for help, look depressed and sorrowful. They also seem as though they are fighting an eternal conflict and are trapped souls. The Renaissance-inspired work is titled 'Ghosts Underground.' While they may be ghostly, they still exude beauty; their chests contain large, illuminating chunks of [quartz and amethyst stones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lithic-bloom). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Ghostly Sculptures:** Opportunity for artists to explore the emotive power of ghostly and haunting sculptures. - **Depression-inspired Art:** Potential for artists to create artworks that evoke feelings of depression and sorrow. - **Renaissance Revival:** A resurgence of Renaissance-inspired art forms that combine traditional techniques with contemporary themes. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Sculpture:** Potential for artists and sculptors to create innovative and emotive pieces that push the boundaries of traditional bust sculptures. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for designers to incorporate ghostly sculptures into interior spaces, creating a unique and eerie ambiance. - **Wellness and Mindfulness:** Potential for art therapy professionals to utilize depression-inspired art as a means of exploring and processing complex emotions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Collaborative Sculptural Art Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neojomon-biomorphic-fantme.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Striking Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculpture-candle.md)
