# Bus-Battery Swapping Startups This Indian Startup Makes Electric Buses More Convenient To Operate By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2017-07-21 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bus-batteries References: [qz](https://qz.com/1033014/ashok-leyland-wants-to-bring-electric-buses-that-can-swap-batteries-at-petrol-pump-like-facilities-to-india/) & [ashokleyland](http://www.ashokleyland.com/) Green transportation and electric buses are certainly here to stay, but one of the longstanding problems with electric buses is the fact that it can often take a very long time to charge such a large vehicle, which is precisely why an Indian startup is pioneering a service that allows for rapid and precise swapping of [electric bus batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swippitt). The SUN Mobility startup teamed up with vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland to introduce the system, which uses an "open-architecture ecosystem built around a smart network of quick interchange battery stations." What this means is that a network of charging service stations are to be set up with streamlined processes that allow for dead bus batteries to be rapidly swapped out for fully juiced-up batteries. By increasing the convenience surrounding [electric bus maintenance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/higer-new-v), the SUN Mobility startup is looking to give a fillip to efforts to promote [eco-friendly public transportation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rosie-travel). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Transportation](https://www.trendhunter.com/transportation) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Battery Swapping Services:** The trend of battery swapping services for electric buses creates opportunities for startups to streamline the charging process and reduce downtime. - **Open-architecture Ecosystems:** The trend of open-architecture ecosystems in electric vehicle charging networks opens doors for innovative startups to develop smart and scalable infrastructure solutions. - **Convenient Electric Bus Maintenance:** The trend of convenient electric bus maintenance through quick interchange battery stations presents opportunities for startups to improve efficiency and promote eco-friendly public transportation. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Electric Vehicle Charging:** The electric vehicle charging industry can capitalize on the trend of battery swapping services by building efficient and scalable infrastructure for electric bus networks. - **Smart Mobility Solutions:** The smart mobility solutions industry can leverage the trend of open-architecture ecosystems to develop innovative and interconnected charging networks for electric buses. - **Green Transportation:** The green transportation industry can benefit from the trend of convenient electric bus maintenance by providing support and services that improve the efficiency and sustainability of public transportation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Battery Rental Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swobbee.md) - [Delhi-Based Electric Buses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delhi.md) - [Motorcycle Battery-Swapping Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/battery-swapping-station.md) - [Hot-Swappable E-Bike Batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prologium-technology.md) - [Battery-Electric Bus Solution](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/battery-electric-bus.md) - [Battery-Swappable E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lime-gen4.md) - [Country-Wide EV Charging Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/futurefactory.md) - [Rapid Phone Charging Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swapperys-external-smartphone-battery.md) - [Startup Bike-Sharing Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curve-electric.md)
