Dr. Brian Pridgen, a resident of the [Stanford Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/synthetic-user-startup) practice, created an affordable [virtual reality game](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/battle-orb) to help burn victims with their time in recovery.

The device was designed to allow patients to play without having to endure any painful movements -- working to supply its user with a totally immersive experience while keeping in mind their limited mobility. The VR game is offered in two different versions, one of which is more relaxing to play with a slower pace and no score-keeping, while the other is more competitive and records the user's progress.

In addition to being low-cost, the device is also easy to assemble and is designed to be used specifically for burn victims -- offering them a distraction from the hospital and their routine treatments.
