Burger King's reusable packaging has been released as the QSR brand makes an effort to lessen its contribution to environmental waste.
The QSR brand partnered with TerraCycle’s circular packaging service, Loop, to test out a closed-loop system that shares the responsibility for waste with its consumers. The pilot program is set to launch in New York City, Portland, and Tokyo in 2021, with additional cities being added throughout the year. At the point of purchase, consumers will be able to opt-in to the zero waste packaging, where they will be charged a small fee. After their meal, they can return the packaging and receive a refund. The used packaging will then be throughly cleaned and re-used.
