# Jumping Jackrabbit Competitions Rabbit Hopping in Denmark By Cowbag | Published 2008-10-03 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bunny-hopping-show-jumping-rabbits References: [lifelounge](http://www.lifelounge.com/Danish-Hops.aspx) & [kaninhop.dk](http://www.kaninhop.dk/uk) I have now officially seen it all and come to the end of the web with these [show jumping rabbits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topps-i-love-bunnies) from Denmark. Officially called 'Rabbit Hopping,' this bizarre phenomenon started in Sweden in the 1980s and has hopped along nicely since then. I could not even get my darn rabbit (now dead, through no fault of my own) to even take a dandelion from my hand, so these guys must be pretty awesome. I guess if your rabbit is a rubbish jumper, and you take the sport seriously, you can just make a pie out of them--a lot easier than contending with rubbish [show jumping horses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/purina-arena-pet-racing). I want to start a petition to have festivals like this in the UK. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 38% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Life](https://www.trendhunter.com/life) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal Sports:** The rise of unique animal sports such as rabbit hopping can open up opportunities for the animal training and nutrition industry. - **Pet-driven Tourism:** Pet owners may soon be traveling with their furry companions to attend rabbit hopping competitions, potentially disrupting the pet-friendly hospitality industry. - **Virtual Animal Shows:** Virtual reality technology can be used to create immersive experiences for animal shows and competitions, presenting a game-changing opportunity for entertainment and tech industries alike. ### Where This Applies - **Animal Training:** The rabbit hopping sport opens up new opportunities for animal training and enrichment, as well as for developing new training and nutrition products for various types of pets. - **Hospitality and Tourism:** Pet-loving tourists can drive the growth of pet-friendly hospitality services, creating a new niche for accommodations, attractions, and transportation services that cater to animal owners and their needs. - **Entertainment and Tech:** The use of virtual reality technology can create immersive experiences for animal shows and competitions, creating new possibilities for entertainment and technology to merge together. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Summer Toronto Food Events](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rabbit-rabbit-rabbit.md) - [Rescue Pet-Supporting Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cadbury-bunny-tryouts.md) - [Unusual Card Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rabbit-rabbit-a-game-of-superstitions.md) - [Cereal-Infused Candy Rabbits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-candy-rabbit.md) - [Virtual Horse-Racing Tournaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/championships-galore.md) - [Floral Clover Fragrances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zoologist-rabbit.md) - [Easter Cat Mascots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cadbury-bunny-tryouts-2023.md) - [Off-Road Bike Trainer Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bunny-hop-trainer.md) - [Tasty Easter Activation Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-big-easter-bunny-off.md)
