The bunny-based biofuel is a consequence of the controlled killings. In an effort to get thermal with Thumper, the city takes the dead rabbits, freezes them and then burns them to fuel a heating plant in central Sweden. Obviously animal rights groups are not liking what is happening with the woodland creatures.
