# Mod Musculature Mansions The Bundle House is a Formal Experiment in Manipulating a Flat Site By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bundle-house References: [suckerpunchdaily](http://www.suckerpunchdaily.com/2012/07/12/bundle-house/) & [jasonorbesmith](http://jasonorbesmith.com/) The featureless site on which the [Bundle House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bundle-house) proposal sits was not visually nor experientially interesting enough for designers Jason Orbe-Smith and Keyla Hernandez. A grid was mapped across the lot, and with the aid of computer rendering programs, an exotic new topography was sculpted as a dynamic place for living. You're looking at a single family home here, is that a surprise? The dull habits of much of domestic architecture have been warped beyond recognition in this project, really challenging imagination, material, technology and aesthetics. A system of [organic curves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-within-a-few-lines) was used to encompass a cluster of interior spaces with trellis-like walls that flow into roofs that provide moments of both shelter and exposure. The Bundle House's unfamiliar fluidity blends well with its [landscaped surroundings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hedge-and-arbour-house) and perhaps better with the colorful lives of its inhabitants. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Fluid Architecture:** Designing structures with curvy forms to create a flowing and organic feel to the built environment. - **Parametric Design:** Using computer rendering programs to aid in the creation of dynamic and complex structures with a focus on form and functionality. - **Trellis-like Walls:** Incorporating walls with trellis-like patterns and designs that allow for moments of both shelter and exposure to the elements. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** There is a growing demand for architects to incorporate innovative technologies and materials in creating structures that move beyond traditional norms. - **Construction:** The use of parametric design software is disrupting the construction industry by allowing for more precise and efficient construction processes. - **Interior Design:** Fluid and organic architectural forms challenge interior designers to create spaces that complement these dynamic structures in a unique and functional way. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Facade Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fractal-facade-house.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Compact Corner Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modus-architect.md) - [Blocky Extended Transformed Bunaglows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/osullivan-skoufoglou-architects.md) - [Sculptural LA Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cm-g1.md) - [Cave-Like Folded Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-house.md) - [Materially Expressive Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alma-switch-house.md) - [Barn-Form Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-house1.md) - [Faceted Cedar Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-house-on-a-hill.md)
