Newson’s inspiration for the bed came from both boxing rings and water rafts which help to explain the exterior construction. Since 1997, the designer has said to have slept on a mattress on the floor because a bed is “one of the hardest things to find.” Subsequently, the designer created that suited his needs and desires of a [bed frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dog-hut-bed). The bed uses polurethane foam blocks and elastic webbing to create a thick solid-edge that encloses the mattress (and yourself,) but can be a used as [a place to sit on](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eclipse-capsule).
