Cleverly located under a set of stairs, this dog kennel is conveniently out of the way and creates a playful and safe space for Barber's dog, Kenji. The built-in dog kennel more closely resembles a comfortable bedroom than a kennel and is large enough for the dog to move around and play. Barber used his handyman know-how and installed a tile floor, toy shelf, LED lights, a door and also a cooling fan to help lower the temperature inside the space. There is even a security camera installed inside that lets the kennel and Kenji be observed on a TV screen, laptop or phone while his owners are away. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Built-in Dog Kennels:** Opportunity for innovative home projects that incorporate functional and stylish dog kennels into living spaces. - **Playful and Safe Spaces:** Opportunity to create secure and engaging environments for pets within homes. - **Smart Pet Technology:** Opportunity to integrate technology such as cameras and temperature control into pet-friendly spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Improvement:** Opportunity for DIY and professional home improvement projects that cater to pet owners. - **Pet Products:** Opportunity for businesses to develop and market innovative and functional pet products for the home. - **Smart Home:** Opportunity to incorporate pet-friendly features into smart home systems for convenience and peace of mind. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rollable Bell-Shaped Dog Kennels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poochchair.md) - [Flat-Packed Dog Kennels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-barc.md) - [Pet-Accommodating Bed Frame Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dog-hut-bed.md) - [Dog-Friendly Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agility-desk.md) - [Demure Dog House Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dog-hut-desk.md) - [Interactive Modular Pet Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-fetch-house.md) - [Air-Filled Waterproof Dog Kennels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/travel-dog-kennel.md) - [Modular Hybrid Pet Crates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evolv.md) - [Cooling Igloo-Shaped Dog Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cooling-dog-house.md)
