Entitled 'ROOM', the playful home accessory range features stenciled elements that are arranged in a myriad of fun ways. Marrying aesthetics with function, these practical storage units are perfect for housing books and toys and remind one of the building blocks and wooden puzzles most of us played with as children. A classic game of fitting shapes into their corresponding spaces served as the main inspiration behind this modular storage system. This building block furniture collection includes 25 individual elements and a low table that can be stacked atop one another in various ways. The furniture line is customizable and encourages creativity while allowing users to change its appearance according to their personal design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modular Furniture:** Designers Erik Olovsson and Kyuhyung Cho have created a modular furniture collection that includes 25 individual elements and a low table that can be stacked atop one another in various ways - **Childhood Nostalgia:** The playful 'ROOM' building block furniture range reminds one of the building blocks and wooden puzzles most of us played with as children - **Customizability:** The 'ROOM' furniture line is customizable and encourages creativity while allowing users to change its appearance according to their personal design ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can tap into the modular furniture trend and offer modular pieces that can be customized to meet the needs of consumers - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate the playful building block furniture trend into their designs, especially for children's rooms or play areas - **Toy Manufacturing:** Toy manufacturers can create building block or puzzle-inspired furniture that also serves as a fun and playful toy for children ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Building Block-Inspired Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-x-room-copenhagen.md) - [Jigsaw Puzzle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf.md) - [Play-Friendly Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/my-nook-modular-furniture-system.md) - [Easy-to-Assemble Colorful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interlockables.md) - [Reconfigurable Modular Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gioco.md) - [Block Puzzle Modular Dollhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dollhouse-concept.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Colorful Modular Storage Sysem](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/center-center-storage.md) - [Puzzle-Inspired Kids Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palipeli.md)
