# Family-Friendly Bug Sprays MosquitNo's 'Family Spray' is a Safe Bug Repellent for Kids By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2016-08-25 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-repellent-for-kids References: [mosquitno.eu](https://www.mosquitno.eu/products/insect-repellent-family-spray) & [saltidin](http://saltidin.com/en/about-saltidin/why-saltidin/) DEET has been tested and approved as an active bug spray ingredient that's safe for kids, but it is not recommended as a bug repellent for kids under the age of three. As an alternative that's safe for the whole family, MosquitNo makes its 'Family Spray' with 20% Saltidin, which is recognized as "100% [safe for children](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mineral-gel-sunscreen) aged 6 months or older." The DEET-free bug repellent offers full-body protection for up to 10 hours and is effective against mosquitos that transmit Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika diseases. Saltidin (sometimes also known as Picaridin and Icaridin) itself is known to be highly effective, but also extremely safe—so much so that it can even be used by pregnant women, since it is non-irritating, colorless, virtually odorless and boasts a low absorption rate. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Deet-free Bug Repellents:** Creating bug repellents without DEET provides a safer option for protecting children and the whole family. - **Safe and Effective Ingredients:** Using ingredients like Saltidin that are recognized as safe for children and pregnant women can revolutionize bug spray formulations. - **Long-lasting Protection:** Developing bug sprays that offer full-body protection for up to 10 hours can provide convenience and peace of mind for consumers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Outdoor Recreation:** The outdoor recreation industry can benefit from DEET-free bug repellents that cater to families, offering a safer solution during outdoor activities. - **Personal Care:** The personal care industry can explore the use of safe and effective bug repellent ingredients like Saltidin to create innovative products catering to different consumer needs. - **Healthcare:** In the healthcare industry, developing bug sprays with long-lasting protection can help prevent mosquito-borne diseases and reduce healthcare costs associated with treating such diseases. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Skin-Friendly Insect Sprays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fumakilla-skin-vape.md) - [Hybrid Bug Spray Sunscreens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skin-so-soft-bug-guard.md) - [Natural Outdoor Bug Repellents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-buster-insect-repellent.md) - [Peppermint-Based Insect Repellents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mozzi-magic-insect-repellent.md) - [Comprehensive Outdoor Protection Sprays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bullfrog-2-in-1-sunscreen.md) - [Non-GMO Natural Insect Repellents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natural-insect-repellents.md) - [Plant-Powered Insect Repellants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buzzie.md) - [Insect Repellent Sprays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/off-active-insect-repellent.md) - [Pet-Friendly Insect Sprays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pest-control-spray.md)
